วัดบางศรีเมือง เป็นวัดราษฎร์สังกัดคณะสงฆ์ฝ่ายมหานิกาย
วัดบางศรีเมืองสร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2374 โดยไม่ปรากฏหลักฐานว่าใครเป็นผู้สร้าง มีสภาพชำรุดทรุดโทรมมาโดยตลอด บางปีมีพระภิกษุจำพรรษาเพียง 2 รูป หรือ 3 รูปเท่านั้น จนกระทั่งเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2505 พระครูนนทสุทธิคุณ (ชื้น) เป็นเจ้าอาวาส ท่านได้สร้างอาคารและเสนาสนะต่าง ๆ ขึ้น ได้แก่ อุโบสถ สร้างเป็นอาคารคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็กแทนหลังเก่าที่ชำรุดทรุดโทรมมาก ได้รับพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาเมื่อวันที่ 15 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2513
